All of the photos below are sent to me by David Whitsed who lives in Albury. I hadn't seen or spoken to him for 30 odd years and then a friend mentioned my website at a school reunion and he emailed me. Since then he's been sending me photos from around that area. My memories of school are pretty awful but he did email me and tell me that he remembered me at school assembly standing in front of him with a Led Zepplin album, a rebel even then obviously, but a nice memory. Life is so strange, after all these years it's great to get his emails with the photos, sadly my only memory of him was that he was tall!

'So how come these photos from Albury are on Deb's Byron Bay website. It started with an Albury High School re-union back in August. Deb and I went through high school (and probably primary school??) in Albury. Deb didn't make it to the reunion but sent an email which was passed around. I must confess that I had totally forgotten her existence but the e-mail instantly reminded me of the flaming red hair and rebellious attitude. She mentioned her website in the e-mail so I checked it out the next day. I was impressed by Deb's bird photos and her obvious love of nature and the beauty of the sub-tropical birds and wildlife found on the North Coast (where I lived for a while).
I had bought a digital camera earlier in the year but hadn't used it for much other than snapshots, so I decided to try a few bird photos. I soon found bird photography to be a fascinating and rewarding passtime and sent some of my photos to Deb. She was kind enough to put them on her web site and has now set up this "Other Places" page. I've now got a new digital SLR and have taken several thousand images with it, 99.9% of birds.
Most of my photos are taken in and around Albury/Wodonga, in various parks and reserves along the Murray River. I aslo regularly vist the nearby Alpine National Park in NE Victoria, Kosziusko NP in SE NSW, Canberra and the NSW South Coast. Whilst many of the same birds are found here as on the North Coast there are also some significant differences which I will attempt to focus on.
Once again, my heartfelt thanks to Deborah for inspiring me to take up serious bird photography.'
