Marsupials & Other Native Critters

The possums were the first in my efforts at photography and I love watching their behaviour. The mums bring their bubs in their pouches and if I'm lucky I see a tiny little creature crawling up the mums chest. Once one fell off onto the ground and 'cried' and the mum raced down and saved it. It seems that they come together until the baby is big and then it seems to take over from the mum and I don't see her so much. They love fruit and eating any seed left in the seed trays. Most of then are grey with white breasts but occasionally a completely black one comes. The Ringtails keep their distance and seem to be around the most every full moon, when you can hear them all night. A baby Ringtail fell into our garden once and I sat it in the shade in a tree and protected it all day and when the sun went down it went off and seemed to be fine. There are lots of flying foxes this time of year (April - May) and they are very noisy but look pretty cool, their faces actually do look like foxes. One came in my daughters room, to her dismay, but we opened the verandah door and turned off the light and it went back out itself. We also have a lone wallaby that I see every now again and sometimes it comes in the backyard and at Easter I saw a fox go through early in the morning, beautifully coloured animal.
